Best Times

Most trails are open all year. Spring and autumn are the best times for walking and cycling. Summer can be hot (and dry), but generally evenings are cooler. February-April is a pleasant time to visit, and in winter, the country is green, lush and misty.

Trail Users' Code of Conduct

  • Carry all rubbish with you and deposit it in a public bin or take it home
  • Move quietly near farm animals
  • Ensure that young children are accompanied by an adult and encouraged to dismount at road crossings
  • Be aware of motorised vehicles on loop trails

Driver's Note

  • While the driving trails can be negotiated in a 2WD vehicle, it is not advisable to attempt the journey whilst towing a caravan or in a vehicle with inadequate ground clearance
  • A 4WD vehicle is highly recommended. Please note that drive times can change due to varying road conditions
  • Drive with caution and according to road conditions at the time. Visit an accredited Visitor Information Centre throughout the region for updates
  • Ensure that you have enough fuel as there may be long distances between petrol facilities
  • Take food, drinking water and suitable clothing for the journey
  • Mobile phone coverage can sometimes be limited on certain parts of the circuit. Check your network to see if they offer coverage in the region or ask staff at the Visitor Information Centre
