The Burra and Goyder region has a wide diversity of attractions to offer visitors. Apart from the friendliness and old fashioned service for which country towns are renowned, there are also many things to see and do.

The Nationally Heritage Listed town of Burra is synonymous with copper mining, and there is a wealth of mining heritage readily accessible to all. Apart from the mining past, history buffs will find much of interest in the Hallett, Terowie and Eudunda areas, and Robertstown is a great stepping off point for the some of the eco-tourism attractions of the area.

The entire Burra and Goyder area features untouched rural views, from rolling hills and valleys, to breathtaking gorges and lagoons. For the outdoors types, the region is an excellent place for eco-tourism. Walks, bike rides, flora and fauna, and drive tours - we have it all.

Interested in arts, crafts, and antiques (and who can resist browsing and perhaps purchasing something special as a memento of their visit)? - then you will be well catered for in Burra and Goyder.

While you are here, enjoy the accommodation, food (and pubs). The Burra and Goyder region offers many unique dining experiences - from a quiet bistro meal in a country hotel, light snacks, takeaways and devonshire teas, to a 3-course indulgence at one of our specialised restaurants. For just a drink, call in to one of the many pubs in the region. There are also a number of outlets retailing locally produced delicacies for which this region is establishing a good reputation.

Goyder Tourism Strategy

Our key aim is to grow visitation in the Goyder and any other regions that may benefit, by developing a quality visitor experience, promoting the destination and continually improving as an industry, both individually and collaboratively.

The focus of the Strategic Plan is to achieve our goal of a tourism industry that is growing, competitive against other regions, contemporary, exciting and professional, and is improving existing and creating new products, events and experiences.

Our strategy is based on delivering significant impact through 6 strategic priorities (referenced pg. 6)

1.       Market Research And Stakeholder Engagement

2.       Building Our Tourism Assets And Product

3.       Infrastructure

4.       Deliver the Clare Valley Tourism Brand To Everyone

5.       Promotion of the Region: Burra As The Hero

6.       Connections

Through the six overarching strategic priority areas, our strategy articulates actions we will take to stimulate tourism in the region, as well as guide our actions in collaboration with the tourism industry as a whole.

The Regional Council of Goyder is committed to this Goyder Tourism Strategic Plan, and we look forward to working with our partners to implement the initiatives identified.
